Mom of the Year I'm not...

I just ran across
this article on AOL. It says that breastfed babies tend to be smarter than those babies who are solely formula fed, or even those babies who get half breastmilk and half formula. Don't get me wrong...my head hasn't been under a rock. I've heard of this before, but this particular study tested something like 12,000 mothers and babies. AND, they did the study in such a way that it esentially eliminates the argument that the breastfed babies are only smarter because the mothers who choose to breastfeed are typically the mothers who tend to spend more time with their children, teaching them and such.

Well, I guess I'm not getting any mother of the year awards since Eli is breastfed and formula fed. But that wasn't exactly my fault. You can't always make your body produce what it refuses to - even with modern medicine.
With my second child (MANY YEARS from now), I fully intend to breastfeed...as long as my body permits me to because there are alot of benefits to baby and mom. BUT, I think that when studies such as this are published, it makes alot of mothers question what they are already doing. I just want all Mommies out there to know that whatever choice they made for themselves and their babies is okay as long as they made it with the best of intentions.
And thats all I got to say about that.

OUR STORY
| We met my 9th grade year (his 10th grade year) of high school in Mrs. Presley's Geometry class. We flirted the whole year, went out with each other's best friends, and then on May 14, 1998 we finally decided to date! Here's the 'romantic' pick-up line I received: "Hey crackhead - wanna' go out with me?" What kind of girl can resist that, so of course I said YES! Fast forward about six years to October 23, 2004. John Marc proposed to me at Tallulah Falls, and again, I said YES! We were married on July 30, 2005 and welcomed baby Elijah to our family on December 4, 2007! |

You cannot make your body do something. I breastfed both my kids, but not as long as I would have liked. My body just stopped producing, not really my fault and so I have no guilt for it. I could have let them starve instead of formula feeding. I hate that they say these things not bearing in mind that some moms just can't do it and would love to.
I love the pictures! So very funny. Reminds me of something King Matt would post! :)
I agree whole-heartedly! You have to do what's best for you and your baby! Those are hilarious pictures...my friend posted some other ones from the same book. I laughed so hard because they are just too funny!
By the way, I love the look of your blog! Beautiful!
So I was looking through your site & noticed that Dan is missing and Boone is not an outside cat? What's up with that?
Wow, the new look is great!
And those posters are too funny! :o)
